Bac Ha district of Lao Cai province is holding the traditional horse racing 2012 in the coming 9 and 10 June at the stadium of district.
The competition is in the series of the activities of tourism cooperation program “Reversion to original point 2012”. It will be held by Lao Cai Department of Culture and Sport and Tourism with the participation of 68 jockeys from Bac Ha, Si Ma Cai, Muong Khuong District (Lao Cai) and Xin Man District (Ha Giang).
Bac Ha traditional horse race is annually held, and it has become the brand to attract more tourists come to Bac Ha. This is the first time that the Organizing Committee will organize many activities such as visits some tourist sites as Trung Do Temple, Hoang A Tuong ancient monument; culture village Trung Do (Bao Nhai commune) … trying the traditional cuisine with the event of the biggest Thang Co pan to win Guinness of Vietnam, folk art program, community cultural activities… to serve, meet the demand of entertainment to the people in the area and the discovery of visitors.
After five years of competing, the tournament has contributed to preserve and promote the traditional culture of ethnic groups in the northern mountainous region, enrich the tourism products of Bac Ha as well as Lao Cai province.
